Idaho Gives begins tomorrow, but the site is already accepting donations.
I AM NOT OK–
and neither are many. In recent years, this phrase has been echoed by more and more African Americans and other members of marginalized groups, from autistics to members of LGBTQ+ and Native American circles, just to name a few. Those words begin the opening statement for the Human Rights Collective, Inc., a group founded to help identify solutions for a hurting nation. Through active multimedia and in-person training and education, HRC aims to dismantle racism, discrimination, and bullying.

“Show me this imaginary racism. Then I’ll do something about it,” a man at an Idaho university repeated, which underscored the fact that a large portion of racism is so ingrained in our society that it had become invisible. Unfortunately, conversations like this one were and are too common.
The collective, which began as a Facebook page called Human Rights Report, wanted to raise awareness of racism in Idaho and beyond, and began posting with the hashtag #ExamplesOfRacism. With no shortage of material, a growing and very loyal group of followers began to engage, validating the need for such a discussion.
We are now a 501(c)(3) organization and are participating in Idaho Gives – a program of the Idaho Nonprofit Center, powered by ICCU – designed to bring people together, raising money and awareness for Idaho nonprofits.
GIVE HERE TODAY.
Our Idaho Gives fundraising goals include raising money for:
• A free online bookstore that donates to schools and organizations that serve low-income families. All the books in the various blog entries under this category "Recommended" will be donated to selected schools and organizations that deal with low-income families. We are going to get about 100 books listed at a time, and the schools and nonprofits can go in and "shop" for one's that meet their populations' needs. See: https://youngpeoplespavilion.com/category/recommended
• A poetry anthology (eBook, later to be a print book) where writers submit on the topic of giving voices to the voiceless. Submissions will be requested and cash awards will be given to selected poets.
• A partnership with the United Way and Door Dash, using the Door Dash software and model to deliver needed goods to struggling families.
We need you!
Thanks for caring.
